Do you think you could paint a 400 foot x 30 foot canvas?

I did and I don’t mind bragging about it. Last December 2016, I was commissioned by Visual Elements to beautify an interior wall of their Vaughan warehouse. The piece was was designed to encourage a positive, friendly work environment for their employees.

It has been a super crazy past few months. I finished my first ever artshow on December 8th. It was one of the best nights of my life that required so much work in the weeks leading up to it. I will be sharing more specifics about the show in the next couple weeks – stay tuned!

During my weeks in the studio I recorded my processes for making all of the pieces that were in my show. Over the course of the next year I will be releasing the videos on my new youtube art channel. I’m excited to be able to share how I specifically make my pieces with the hopes of inspiring and encouraging more to get into the art scene.

As a teaser to my channel, I am giving you this Christmas Edition – How to Chalk a Christmas Chalkboard!

Materials required:

• Chalkboard (any size) – I purchased mine here from Staples for $30.

• Bistro Chalk Markers – You can get a variety of sizes from most art stores or order online

• Sharpie Poster Markers – I used these alternatively

• Chalk template – You can download my template here

• Spray paint for boarder

I’d love to see your designs. Tweet them to me @elisegoodhoofd or hashtag #artwithelisechristmas
